The National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA) funded a whole range of Crucible-in-a-box activities across the UK from 2005-2009. These groups allowed individuals from all disciplines to come together, interact and create, and continue to work together as a network of alumni.
A range of projects were established, including science vs philosophy radio series explaining concepts of science and technology across the London airwaves, to stem-cell based materials for novel therapeutic medicines.
Since each of the Crucible events we have remained a network aimed to push the boundaries, learning across the disciplines and communicating our excitement for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) to all that will listen.
Being continually virtually connected through social media links, we have been keen to hold alumni events bringing as many people back together to share new ideas and continue to inspire others. Our previous event at the London Google offices was a huge success. This year we are holding the Crucible Alumni event in the Dublin Science Gallery, also being joined with the INSPIREFEST2015 event.
Crucible IN REAL LIFE promises to be an amazing event and we hope to see as many of you there as possible, either in person or virtually. We hope to have projected live Twitter feed and webcast.
Follow us @cruciblealumni, #CrucibleIRL to keep up-to-date with plans.
Paul, Sue, Dennis and Polly
