COME AND JOIN US! 🙂    #CrucibleIRL

Crucibles will be meeting for lunch at 1pm on Tuesday 16th June at the Science Gallery, giving everyone a chance to catch up and meet people from other Crucible activities.

We have also arranged a Science walking tour of Dublin to explore the great Irish scientists and engineers. This will start at 3pm outside the Science Gallery.

We’ll all be meeting at 5pm for drinks at the Liquor Rooms (including Google hangout at 6pm with Crucible people who can’t make it to Dublin).

9.30am –Smoking – why it is a big problem (15 min)

We all get into teams combining experts, Crucible alumni and members of the public to work on solutions to the problem of smoking and come up with our novel and original solutions.

11:20am  All teams present their smoking solutions – 3 mins per team

12:00pm  Lunch + judging

13:00pm  Presentation of winners from #healthhack

Dr Mark Clements (Director Learning and Teaching) – Art/science research and learning

Kimberly Bryant (Founder: Black Girls Code) – Changing the face of technology: Black Girls Code

3:10pm Session 2 – New Horizons

Kieran Daly (Health/Tech Innovator) – Using sensors to create art installations (poker playing)

Anita Quye (Textile Conservation Scientist) – Tartan tales: researching historical textiles by micro-chemical analysis

Paul Roach (Bio-engineer) – Creating ‘brain-in-a-dish‘ models for Parkinson’s and Huntington’s diseases

Lucy Rogers (Rocket Scientist) – Dinosaurs in space (or how I got into engineering)

5pm    Drinks reception
